Hello,
I have 6 chickens 2 White Leghorns,2 Rex Sexlinks and 2 Barred Rock Chicks. One of my Red Sex Links started going crazy yesterday she attacked a Leghorn and drew a lot of blood. My girl is fine it was superficial. Today the Red is beating up other chickens. So can I get her to stop this or do I have her for dinner?? The chicks are my kids and I really don't want to put her down but all the other girls are real sweet and friendly. Any help would be appreciated because I do not know too much about chickens these are are first ones.

Thank you
Billy

Welcome to BYC. You'll get more responses if you reposted to the Chicken Behaviors section.

If the RSL regularly draws blood during these attacks, I would remove her from the flock for a few days and then put her back in the mix. Coming back as 'the new girl' can be quite an attitude adjustment. If that doesn't work, I'd look into rehoming or freezer camp.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

- Good advice from iheart, often a few days time out will straighten out an aggressive hen.

How old is she? If she is getting ready to lay that might be the problem, think crazy teenager hormones.

Welcome to the site!

Thanks everyone for the help I will try isolating her. @ ChippyChicks she is 23 weeks so maybe it is her hormones kicking in. I hope so my kids would be heartbroken if she has to go:-(

Yes they would Drumstick Diva I'm going to quarantine her in the morning for a while and hopefully that works of not I will go to plan B!
