This morning the humidity had dropped to around 49% as opposed to the 68% I've kept it at since day 18. One chick externally pipped this morning but there has been no progress since. None of the others appear top have pipped. What should I do? The pipped eggs rocks sometimes but I can't hear any cheeping. Did the humidity drop do damage?

I did lift the lid quickly to put in a damp sponge to raise humidity - then took it out again a shortish while later. Humidity is 68% now and has been for the last 7 hours or so.

I think they'll be ok. It can take hours or even a day or so for them to continue hatching after the first initial external pip. They sit and rest for a while and expand their lungs. Peeping from within the eggs usually increases over time. Some may remain quiet. I like to leave my sponges in my incubators and the humidity may even reach 80% or above during hatching.

Well it's been 24hours since the first egg pipped. It's cheeping and I saw it rocking but nothing yet :( I have another which has started to pip too and that is rocking aswell. Do I help the first egg/leave them all? I was unsure of the exact date when I set them but I was convinced it was Sunday rather than Monday - but maybe I was wrong.

I seem to be worrying so much more with this hatch - or maybe I am trying too hard. When - if at all - should I help the first chick? :(
