I need help please! I have only hatched chicks once last spring and it was very successful.

I had a lot of trouble this year with maintaining the temperature after I took out the automatic egg turner. At first it was too low (89) then it went up to 103. After 24 hours I got the temperature regulated but I am afraid I caused damage!

I am using a Little Giant Still Air Incubator (after doing research I see that it's not the best!). It is day 20 and there is a bad smell coming from the incubator. Can I check the eggs to see which one it is coming from even though they aren't supposed to be moved on this day? Did I kill them?

I would appreciate any help or suggestions!

Yes I would find out which one it is. You don't want it to explode

I think I found the one but When I candled it I could see the outline of a chick and it didn't seem to be moving. Is there a way to tell if it is dead? I am afraid of getting rid of it and it not really being dead.

If that is the egg that stinks, I would count on the chick being dead and deteriorating - remove it carefully in a plastic bag and tie the bag tightly shut. When stink eggs explode they send bacteria everywhere. It could cause the death of other chicks. If at all possible I would remove the eggs for a very short time while you thoroughly clean the incubator.

Your high temps may very likely have cooked a few of them. So they may be more soon depending on if/when they died.
