Woohoo! This gives me hope! We're at day 20 right now in one bator and day 18 in another with no movement or sound at all
I know we had a few wigglers when we candled last week, but we candled both incubators before lockdown and no movement at all. A couple eggs look like the chick is only taking up half of the egg. Most of the eggs are nearly entirely dark so I'm hoping it's a good sign. This is our 2nd attempt at hatching - the first time around a temp spike killed the little chickies before they were hatched
I am so worried right now that we somehow managed to kill these chicks too .... I hate this waiting!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I always keep my temps. around 101, and humidity around 50%. Checking Incubator at least 3X a day. I have had chicks hatch out right in the turner! As soon as I hear peep, they are placed in the hatcher. Some eggs will take a day or two longer to hatch, depending on when they were layed. Let us know how many you have hatched out!?
Day 21 today. Got home and temp was 97. Good grief! I adjusted the temp just a tad and then noticed that the plastic viewing windows were kind of popped up a little. I pushed them back down and checked the temp a few minutes later and it was up to 104. I'm thinking we've lost these eggs
This is in the LG still air incubator. The digital thermometer shows the range of temp variation. It's been 98.4 to 101.2 and now it's just all over the place. I am so frustrated I could just
. This is our 2nd attempt with hatching and things are not looking good. It'll be our 2nd set of Hamburg eggs we've lost
My first hatch this year.I had the viewing window fall out unnoticed on day 8,when I rolled the eggs before bed. I noticed at 6:00 am when I went to roll them again. The temp was at about 70 for a 6 hour period.I didn't give up on them. Most of the hatch turned out to be hens.1 roo to 4 hens.
Ana came in and checked the eggs. She started yelling "there's a hole!". She was looking in the bator that we've had the temp problems with so I didn't believe her. I'd already had them figured for goners but I took a look anyway. One of our Silkie egg has cracked on the top! Man, I thought it was hard getting from day 18 to day 21 without opening the bator or candling the eggs. Now at day 22 it's even worse .... Ana is glued to the bator now watching for signs of life. I'm more optomistic now but still preparing myself for anything. Please send some of those hatching vibes my way! I'm thinking maybe we should go see a movie or I'm gonna be stuck with my face glued to the bator watching and waiting and driving my girls nuts! I'm kind of sad that Jacob is away at camp this week because he is the only other person in the house who is more excited at the prospect of hatchlings than I am
