It’s Day 29 and one out of my two Peking ducks has hatched successfully. The other one still has t even internally pipped and I’m getting worried… any suggestions?

Does it still have movement when candled? Were they rotated around the incubator by hand to ensure one wasn’t in a cold spot?

I have one duckling still in the incubator that just hatched so I didn’t want to open it and candle and cause temp change.. so idk. I see the air sac a little.. it was autorotated before lockdown began.

The autorotation will turn eggs, but you have to pick them up and move them to different spots around the incubator. Some spots are warmer than others which can cause delayed hatches. You can open up the incubator and candle. As long as you are not sitting with the open for 10 minutes they will be perfectly fine. I have hatched out many ducklings every spring for years and never had an issue quickly candling an egg.

Hmm okay I didn’t know this. 😕 I really hope it’s okay. I will candle it and see. My other duckling hatched perfectly fine though.. so I’m not sure what’s happening

Will this affect my duckling that hatched? If I open it to check on the other egg?
