I posted on here earlier about chickens with missing feathers on their backs and around their butts. Well, I went into the coop today and found one of my Barred Holland hens lying on her side gasping her few last breaths. Was already getting stiff. So I took her out and shot her. There was no blood, or wounds. They all seemed fine yesterday, except that they're half bald. The one that died had no feathers left on her butt and a large bald spot on her back. I dont know what to do before more die?

Possibly this could be an indication of mites or lice? Lice and mites are easy to take care of a bin of dirt, sand or woodstove ashes to dust bathe in will suffocate the pests. Also consider parasites and worms maybe some DE in your chickens feed and use Sweet PDZ to control flies and odors. You can use olive oil on your perches to rid them of mites, I dust the coop and pen with DE I have never had this problem just by taking precautions. Also use raw apple cider vinegar in their water.
