Update:
I am posting a new photo since its been 5 weeks since I asked for help identifying the sex of a new bird. It is now approx. 9 weeks old. Has anyone's guess changed after seeing the new photo?

Cockerel. His hackles are long, thin, pointy and loose whereas on a pullet they'd be shorter, with rounded tips and tight against the neck.
