I've been dealing with my first prolapse for week now keeping her inside in a dark area and using honey and triple antibiotic cream. It would be successful for a couple of days and pop out again. It only comes out maybe 1/2 inch and have an area with white rubbery coating which I assumed was infection.
Another chicken was laying smaller eggs but streaked with blood also but no other symptoms til just now I find her with and exact looking bum bum as the first one. There is stinky gunky white poo on her bum. I see no blood, they are acting normal, eating and drinking okay. No changes in anything except they are now spending their days outside in the run ( wheather nice) and a couple of weeks ago I was feeding them a hand ful of ground corn in the a.m. as a treat but haven't done that in over a week. Please help me think this through. I'm afraind now its not an isolated incident.
Thank you

I think some of the other members use sugar for a prolapsed vent. I haven't had that problem, so I don't know first hand. Have you tried giving them a warm bath.

If there is infection, I would recommend Tylan50.

Can I get Tylan at tractor supply store? and now I'm wondering if the prolapse is the initial problem or a symptom of something else. How likely to have 2 at the same time that look exactly alike. Thanks for the reply.
Im working on pictures now.

That didn't work. Would Sulmet be good for anything regarding this problem?
