Hi everyone, new to the forum. My husband and I live in a suburban neighborhood. I feed the wild birds in my backyard and we noticed a week ago that a chicken has started feeding with my birds! We have NO idea where she came from. She is pretty skittish, but we like watching her. She is missing feathers off of her backside/butt area. She's pretty scraggily looking. Do you think she could be diseased? Does anyone know what kind of chicken it is? We are contemplating building her a coop. She started sleeping on our front porch bench, so I cut out a plastic box for her to get in at night, which she does. We know NOTHING about chickens!! Been researching frantically on the internet!! Should I try to catch her and take her to a vet?

She may just be molting. I can't tell what kind by your pics, sorry.

Hmm.. not sure about breed but it's good your keeping an eye out for her! Maybe set out some water or get a poultry waterer for her! Has she just been eating bird seed?

Not sure on breed either. Does look like a bantam though.
Could be rooster damage. She may have had a nest close by that was damaged or destroyed.
I say damaged or destroyed since she is sleeping on your porch.
Could be molting but hard to tell from the pics.
