HELP :) diving in with a cabinet incubator have a few questions

Thank y'all!!

alright with one pie pan with water I got 53% humidity. Held STEADY!

whoo-hoo!!

and if I open the door to add more water, it goes down to 47% but is back to 53% in less than 20 minutes!!

I will try to calibrate it today. Thanks!

I am glad that you think I have a good one. I have worried about it. I almost died when hubby bought it for me. I coudlnt belive he wasted the money on it, and then, its just been in storage since about 2 weeks after we got it!

One last thing and I will leave you alone. Do some reading on where you want your humidity to be. If you need to lower it you can just cover a portion of the pan with just about anything and it will allow less moisture into the cabinet.

More moisture and you can add a good big wet sponge. You can also play with the covers on the holes in back.

take care

Oh heavens. I sure dont think you are bothering me. You have helped me so much!! Thank you!!

I did opt for a big pan. I might cover some of it up. depending on if I go with the wet method or dry...

Right now, we have the vents on back closed, the house is kept at a constant 72 degrees. I hate for the thing to have to work too much overtime to heat up the air coming in.

the house also keeps a 43% humidity. But I will play with it some more before I throw in some eggs.

I was wanting to scrap it and throw together a syrofome ice chest.. LOL Actually, I have so many old ice chests outside that I could start a business if I could turn them into bators...

I have a humidistat something like that in my incubator. I would assume they had a room humidifier hooked to it. I have one of those small disk foggers plugged in to mine an would not do without it now. Being able to adjust the humidity with a turn of a knob is way better than playing with bowl sizes an sponges.

Thank you

do you have a picture of the humidifier that you use?

and I dont even know if my humidistat thing is working. How would I know? I knw that a current will run through it. (Pluged it in, then a hairdryer to it... ) but the light has never came on.

I dont mind the bowls and such, but idiot proof would be nice too.

If you have something plugged in to it it should be on when turned all the way to the right an off when turned all the way to the left.

My fogger was sold as a "Mist Maker" but there all the same thing. Heres a pic I found of one.
