Freddy my 12 week old SF boy’s nose/beak is hurt. I did have them in a coop with an older hen and she was mean! I’ve separated her for now but his face looks bad! :hit He is very rambunctious and she has had to put him into place. My girl SF also has the same broken nose/beak and she gets pushed around a lot. Is this just from being pecked or some kind of disease? I want to treat it right away. I hope it’s just chicken pecking order casualties :fl

Hi! That could be picking or the end result of rubbing on wire or even a bad sinus infection. It looks like I can see rub marks, do you see them trying to get out of a run very often or do you have wire in your coop?

I have seen him pushing his face against the wire of the run and it’s hardware cloth so the squares are really small. Googling didn’t help much just ended up with more questions lol

Ok that is what is going on with both faverolles then. The squares are small but the wire isn't smooth it is rough like a file, repeated pushing files a hole. I'm thinking they're being bullied and trying to push out, faverolles are not fighters at all.:) If you don't mind me asking how many and what other breeds are they housed with?

I don't know much about silkies but there are oodles of threads about ones acting up. Ameraucanas can for sure be bullies got one of those here and she's mean. How many chickens in how much space? I'm trying to figure out if you've got a space issue or if it is the meekness of the breed causing them to damage themselves like that.
They are with Silkies and Ameraucanas. They are all the same age.

I think it’s a bit of both. Right now they’re in a premade coop while I do repairs on their future run. It’s supposed to house 10 birds but they’re never big enough for the supposed count. There are 7 babies in there now. I know my girl SF gets pushed around or she’s just a drama queen. She screams at everything!! Even when she’s not getting hurt lol. Only the two SF have the bump. I guess the silkies are doing better. They are tiny compared to the Ameraucanas :lau

Faverolles are dramatic yes indeed! They also HATE conflict of any sort the smallest peck and they are out of there lol! Iv'e got seven of them three boys and four girls so iv'e seen the hysterics. Better get that run finished quickly or you're going to have some snub nosed faverolles:)

I’ve separated them from the older hen and everyone’s happy! Lol She was being really mean to ALL the chicks but I guess stressed the Faverolles more. The culprit. She was supposed to be an Ameracauna but I guess she’s an Easter egger?

Look at that attitude! can’t blame her she’s seen some things!! Funny thing the SF cockerel seems to be top roo! He’s put into place the bigger Ameracauna boy. It’ll be interesting reintegrating them later on when the chicks are bigger

Yay! Fred looks so much better you can hardly tell, little lady is looking great too. Fred very well may become head roo, they aren't terribly forceful guys usually but they are GREAT at what roosters are supposed to do and the hens just dig that.:)
