Help dog attacked my ducks

Will duramycin treat an infection. I'm thinking an infection may be starting. I'm new to injury and never had to deal with this. She is panting, poop is minty green, and leg feels warmer. We do have a fan blowing on her. It's getting warm here in Florida and we do have the air on too. Would you recommend duramycin or baytril. How long can I give her this for. By looking at how deep the injury is, she will be staying inside for a while.

I am not an antibiotics expert.... duramycin is often used for infections such as advanced bumblefoot infection.

Baytril is also an antibiotic used in infections.

I have seen it recommended for internal, systemic infections.

Ideally, one would be able to run a test to see which one was most effective against the bacteria she has.... but often we need to go with our gut.

And just to be sure I have written this down - a good duck vet is best. Not everyone can manage that.

Just an FYI, you can get duramicyn-10 from Amazon.com. I just bought some for my pekin who's got some kind of infection. She's shown response in just 2 days. I paid for expedited shipping.

I bought some from tractor supply last night. Her poop looks like pistachio pudding. She also isn't eating much. Just a few meal worms here and there. Just wish I could get her to have some crumble. I do know how to tube feed if I get to that point. I saved one of my ducks a few months back by tube feeding. Thanks to casportpony for posting how to. She really misses her mate this morning. He's outside of the window talking to her. She's honking away. Poor girl. Hope your pekin is feeling better.

I have read that that can be a sign that the antibiotic is stressing the liver. Probiotics may help her appetite, not sure how you can support her liver (it can recover). Sometimes when this happens, folks switch to a different antibiotic. I am not a vet, and wish I knew more.

What's a sign that could be stressing the liver? Pistachio poop? Her poop was like that before the antibiotic. That's why I thought she had an infection and started antibiotics. Oh I wish I could afford a vet. Her first dose was last night about 7ish mixed in her water. My husband felt sorry for her so he made a little spot where she can lay down outside and pick in the grass and see her mate. She's alert and picking in the grass some. She seems happy to be out for a little bit. It's breezy and no bugs out today. Is it ok for her to be outside for a little bit?

I apologize for the vagueness. Yes, the green poop. I think it's great that you have her outside - as long as flies cannot get to her wounds.

Wallace (Elsa's mate is laying right next to her sleeping). I don't think he slept a wink or ate after this dog attack. Elsa is picking in the grass and seems happy to be out. I'll give her bath and clean up her wound more after she comes in. She loves her baths and has fun in the tub. We do that daily and apply medicine daily as well. Will the green poop go away after a day or two on antibiotics? Just wanted to make sure they are working. No apologies about the green poop. I thought that's what you meant but just wanted to be sure! thanks so much

Might be a bit late o_0 but a dog attacked my chicken(not duck but) and ripped off 80% of her back and neck feathers, along with skin... Her leg had already been damaged so we was in a bit of a crisis
We kept Barbs in a cardboard inside, she was unable to move. We had to feed her a special concoction (tell me if you want the recipe) and regularly checked up on her. We gradually let her out, slowly she began to walk and drink again by herself XD she's our little hero )

Oh your story gives me hope. So sorry to hear about your little chicken. I think if we can keep the infection away she should pull thru. She picked at the dirt and grass outside and ate a few mealworms. She's not interested in anything else. Did you tube feed? Yes, I would love the recipe. I'll try anything to help her. She's in the bathtub now and then more meds will be applied to her wound. Thanks for sharing your story!
