My little Nugget was fine this morning. Went out to watter the garden and herd a "Chicken Growl" (never herd it before) then notice Nugget acting a little, I don't know slow? Then I noticed her backside See attached

I don't know what this is or what to do. She seems to be eating fine. HELP!

Hi Gretta--

Welcome to the BYC forum.

Chickens are capable of numerous vocalizations----and sounds similar to growls are among them.

From your picture on this monitor it almost looks like a chicken leg attached to her behind. I guess my eyes are bad. Hope someone recognizes the problem that is shown in your photo and you get an answer to the problem..

That almost looks like the end of what is called "Lash" which hens will pass once in a while, part of their reproductive tract. Is she possibly eggbound with this stuff? Looks like she is dripping something down her thighs too... I'd check her to see what's going on in there

Just a little background on Nugget... She has no beak, she tried to save her sisters life against a Raccoon, so she can't preen herself. The liquid was from her poo. It has since become normal (her poo that is). She is my baby. I felt her to see If i could feel an egg, Nope. Sorry the pic is blurry but as you can see NO beak! She is so cute!!
