HELP!!!! Duck and Chicken in a Dorm

. Its been a while since I have had chicks, but I believe the starter feed is for ducks and chicks, right? And they need to have food available at all times?
Yes, food alla the time and water and warmth...if they are feeding spinach or anything else the chick at least needs grit....this is sounding not very good....I don''t know about baby duck food but starter crumbles at least....what are they getting for warmth? They need protein...from chick starter....does the college allow animals in the dorm?

What kind of starter feed are they using? Ducklings require more niacin than chicks.

A duck with a kiddie pool will be fine with chicks. The water needs to be deep enough to rinse off muddy duck heads. The water may not stay in the pool for long though!

You don't need to worry about a kiddie pool until the duckling is about 8 weeks old (when their oil glands start working and they can swim without becoming waterlogged), but their waterer needs to be deep enough to reach their nostrils so that they can rinse them out. For introductions, what I do is use a large wire dog crate put in the coop. But they will need to be inside for another 3-5 weeks unless you can put a heat source in the crate. If the duckling turns out to be a drake, you will probably need to build him his own house and find him another drake or a duck as a friend.

I don't think they are using starter feed, OP said they are feeding spinach....correct me if i am wrong, OP...

We are NOT allowed to have animals. I will buy them starter grow, and find out if my friend is willing to take the pair. Will niacin in a starter grow for ducklings harm the chick?

You're right. I saw that they were feeding spinach, but I thought that was in addition to commercial feed.

What kind of store lets college guys buy 2 baby birds, then let them walk out without any feed? If you can get an all flock type feed that would be best, or even gamebird crumbles.

I know, right? But it can be reported by OP to proper authorities if she wishes...since animals are not allowed in dorms...I am just concerned that they may not have heat, or food, or grit...if I was near, at this point I would take them...

...they may not have much time left...

They have been feeding them carrots and lettuce. No starter feed. I'm going to tell them to call animal control or google a wildlife specialist in the area. I know of a few who can at least point them in the right direction of who to give them to. I just pray they don't get separated. They've apparently been okay for about a week... I have no clue how they haven't been caught yet. I couldn't even tell you how many kids have handled them on our front lawn.
