Need help please. I am not sure what incubation day my duck egg is on. I thought it was past 28 days though. It has a good size air pocket and the rest of the egg is now dark, veins are gone and I don’t see any movement. I did the water test and it floats mostly down in the water. I thought I saw movement but now I’m not so sure. What should I do? Keep waiting or try to help it hatch? Maybe it’s not alive anymore.

There is a day or so before internal pip that it is hard to see movement when candleing as the egg gets tight. Then they break into the air cell where breathing and more movement can be seen. It may be a few days after the internal pip before external pip and finally hatching. I duck that has not internally pipped is not ready for hatching help. I don't know about the water test. I use a cell phone flashlight for candleing. If you feel it is alive give it a few days and see if it pips.

Ok thank you. I am just not sure. I have been waiting for days. I just don’t know how old it is. This is my first time trying to save some duck eggs.

Update... we waited but then decided to open the egg up and the little duck had passed already. So sad. It would have been our first duck to hatch.
