HELP!! Duck egg pipped 24-31 hrs ago, is this normal?? **HATCHED, PICS

Those were actually taken through the window, after having a hunk of junk camera for way too long my hubby broke and got me a really nice camera for Christmas. I love the pictures it takes!

Wow that is a fantastic camera! I've been trying all morning to get a decent pic of the pips and just can't get one LoL Well, again congratulations on a healthy duckie...I bet you feel a lot of well deserved relief.

Thanks!! Yes I am relieved that she hatched, but now she's making me nervous because she's kicking all of the other eggs around!! lol

Looks like I have a duck egg that after external piping over 24 hours ago finally I have what looks like piping around one inch long down the side now, but no real chips that are out of egg. The piped places that are about 1 inch long are just raised a bit. Duckling has bee in their since original piping a long time. Not sure whether to help it today? It is in incubator with two other eggs that don't appear to have piped yet. humidity has been at 70% for 4 days.

It really is a long process.  It usually takes around 24 hours from internal pip til they externally pip- then another 24 hours or so before they start to unzip.  But it can take much longer as well and still be normal.  As long as there is still some progress happening things are ok.  Its only when nothing happens to any egg in the setting for over 24 hours that you should worry about anything.  They sure can test our patients come hatching time.  You would think after 28 days they would be more eager and quick to get out- but there is still a complex process that needs to take place before they are ready to get out and greet the world.
thank you I have two eggs doing the same thing and that helps alot

This is SO good for me to read!!! We are biting our nails waiting on our duck eggs, too!! (Pekin/Rouen mix) They started pipping 24 hours ago and aren't moving fast enough for me!! LOL!!! It's excruciating peeking in there and waiting , waiting.

it sounds right to me. Ours did that. I went to bed. The next day I went to check on them and the first egg had a crack. It took a couple more hours for that little one to come out of the shell. I had to be some where and a few hours later when I returned the second one was born. Now 9 months later they are all running around in our yard.:)

Thanks!! I was getting worried after she pipped externally and then didn't do anything for about 14 hours. But now she is hatching, we saw her beak and she's breaking the shell open!!

Should I worry? It’s been 36 hrs since external pip with little progress. It pipped early though
