My duckling just hatched out from under my sitting hen and I left it to late to order chick crumb, so will not be able to get it for two to three days.
in the meantime what can I feed them? I only have layers pellets for my hens but have read that even crushed up the high levels of calcium could kill them.

Is there anything that I might have in the cupboard that I could feed them safely for a few days? like rolled oats, corn meal, couscous?

Ducklings will eat just about anything a chicken would; anything with grains and broken down into small pieces. Oatmeal swells so I would not feed that dry. Corn meal I think would be fine, but not sure. I take it that the ducklings were hatched by a broody chicken or was it a duck hen? If they are free to range I don't think you'd have to worry about it. The hen will find them food. At any rate they won't need much food to begin with.
