Help! Duckling off to a bad start and now stuck in egg

Two things I am trying this year:

1. Good Nites Bed Mats - are 2 1/2' by 3' and are supposed to be used for putting on beds to prevent leak throughs on kids. I had a coupon. So far so good. We have one Pekin duckling that was a difficult hatch (pipped on the bottom instead of the top) and after 3 days of resting, it is now in with the baby geese in the laundry room.

2. A Q-Tip soaked in water then dipped in crumbles works well too. I wanted to make sure the little bugger got hydrated so the ratio was 1 food-tipped swab with about 3 water-soaked swabs. That was the first day after duckie dried off. Now s/he's browsing with the rest of the geese on crumbles on the mat.

A bit wonky on the photo due to the heat lamp, but the duckie is doing well with his/her adopted flock.

OK, just one thing about those stupid bed mats. The adhesive is very very very very very very very sticky. I still have bits of it stuck on the linoleum on the laundry room floor. And they went through that one bed mat in a day. We are back to large beach towels.

Of course, that is the 3 ducklings in with the 6 lady goslings. There's a lot of poop each day. We are changing out their bedding daily. I'm thinking of selling all this manure for my retirement fund. There seems to be enough of it!
