I need help I have a duckling that I took from my neighbor that was attached by a dog. I called my vet she said she won't do anything but put it down but the tech told me he would suggest amputating the ducklings leg. He is doing great eating and drinking fine I want to give him the best chance at life I couldn't let him lay out in the pen and just die. Has anyone had to do this before

Options are limited.
At-home amputation would be extremely painful, and traumatic for a bird( especially this age. Left to progress without intervention, death would most presumably occur. I detest being the first to suggest euthanasia, but in a case where the bird is suffering and we can't help, it is the best route to go.
Many articles can be found online/and on BYC that make the euthanasia process much easier to do.

That definitely doesn't look good. Is there an open wound? is it bruising? What all have you done?
Cleaned it put silver sulfadiadzine cream splint it and gave him antibiotics my vet said hes to small for her to do anything but put him down the foot/leg is all dried out and cold
