help! duckling wont stop panting?!?

I have two week-old ducklings. One is doing just fine. The other won't stop panting. I checked the brooder and the bedding is dry, they have had fresh water and food all day, and the temperature is fine. I took him out and have him sitting with me hoping that he was just too hot and no change. Any ideas?

I had one like that. It stopped eating and drinking and it just fell over and died. My first duck 2-3 years ago. Very sad. Hope yours don't have the same fate. Mine lived for 2 and a half weeks.

Do you have a cool spot in your brooder for him to move to?

Well it's only been an hour and he hasn't stopped eating or drinking yet.... Fingers crossed he will be okay. I am going to lower the temp in the brooder by a couple degrees.

Yes half of the brooder has the heat lamp on it and the other half has no light on it.

Is it possible that he/she was traumatized at hatching or anytime, since u got it?

Nothing that I have seen. We are careful to keep the dogs away. They are in a spare bedroom right now until I can finish the new brooder in the garage.

Okay good news! He stopped panting! I don't know what that was about! Very random! I will definitely be keeping an eye on him for a while. Do you think I should give him some savachic electrolyte stuff? I have some and not sure when I should use it...

Idk. But yes keep an eye on him, my duckling waz off and on panting.
