Help! Ducks have pipped internally but not externally after 24 hours!

Some were quiet right up until they were zipping. Others were loud mouths! I love hearing them peep in the shell though. That's when I know it is just about time. But if you listen to the internally pipped they are usually pecking at the egg. Not really hard at least it doesn't sound hard but pecking none the less.
I think the clicking noise you hear is actually them breathing.

I did wait one day after, before opening the incubator to check the eggs. They were both gone by then and I suspect they died maybe one to two days before hatch date, which made me feel incredibly sad and helpless. It's sometimes difficult to gauge what information is correct when it comes to correct incubator temperatures and humidity levels. Everyone has different information. Luckily, I had two additional eggs hatching in my Brinsea mini advance (which was a gift). That hatch was 100% successful! I will say that I will continue hatching, but not in the old still air styrofoam incubator I used with my poor hatch. I have been hatching for three years and totally love it but was not emotionally prepared for losing my ducklings:(   Anyway, thanks for your help and advice. I am currently with three beautiful ducklings and 7 quail eggs in my incubator,  which should hatch in about 15 days...wish me luck:fl

Good luck with your hatch!! :fl

I am not really clear on what/how exactly it works, but from my understanding, it's just the noise they make when breathing in there.
this is also something I read about. The clicking noise is them learning to breath and readying their lungs. I've heard my eggs making those noises, but no peeping. So not sure if they have pipped or not. What does the internal pip look like? If it's just the shadowing and beak movement then I've seen that on one, but that was almost two days ago?!

I noticed when they are attempting to internally pip it looks darker. With my ducks once they finally internally pipped I could see the bill up higher in the air pocket and the color of the bill looks lighter. I'm not an expert lol but that is what I noticed. Have you candled them since then?

I will candle them again tonight. I've seen the shadow dancing, but they may not be in the air cell yet. Hopefully just a few days more at most. Some are a few days behind the others from what I can tell. Will be exciting to see when they do and I'll have a clearer understanding. Thanks for all the feedback ladies. I'll keep you posted if there is any progress.

I have had GREAT success with my Styrofoam, perhaps, if you lower that humidity when using it, you may have a better hatching rate?? I'm just saying.....since it seems to be acting quite differently then your Brinsea..

@Lacrystol I have a question that maybe you can answer. I have 8 duck eggs mom is sitting on them. The air cells dipped about three days ago. I can see shadowing in the air cell on two since almost two days ago. They are moving around still. I think they rested for a while earlier, but checked tonight and they are moving, but not as strongly on two. I can't hear anything. Yesterday I saw the one poking toward the air cell alot, without any progress. How long should it take them from the internal to external pip? Also will there be peeping once they break through the air cell? All but one egg has hairline cracking. Not sure if it's from them or mom. I was just worried they may be stuck. Also I don't know exact date of when she started sitting.

DUCKS take much longer then chickens. they are slow pokers. Sorry if I'm late on this one, was in the hospital, Husband had open heart surgery.
