Help- egg bound hen who needs assistance!

I have a hen with almost this exact same appearance from behind.

When I first found her, I, too, thought she was egg bound. However, she never acted very uncomfortable. I kept her in the house for a week and she was always in good spirits and eating well.

It has been well over a year since her abdomen started to swell in the same way of the chicken pictured. She does not lay (she is 3 years old now) ever and sometimes loses her balances and has to extend a feather while walking. Apparently, her hind end is so "weighted" she cannot jump up on the roost either. So, I have a dog kennel on the ground for her to sleep in.

Anyway, I have always suspected that she hada tumor because clearly if she was egg bound she would have died by now. It is one large (and oddly very egg shaped!) mass. This about confirms my suspicions since if I took a photo and posted it it would be very similar, aside from the fact that she is a red hen.

We live in Colorado mountains where it gets quite cold. So I have conisdered putting her down before winter, but recently she has been in very good spirits. IT is hard for me to decide if I should wait for her to tell me it is time, or spare her a hard winter and put her down while she is in good shape.
