I have a button quail that is egg bound. She has had: Olive oil applied on vent, NOT INSIDE. I do not know how to do that, and a Warm water bath 10minutes. I know it is egg bound because she is straining in the vent area. She has runny poop, and she's all fluffed up. She has been egg bound for 24Hrs. I did not realize it was egg binding because I thought she was just too warm. PLEASE HELP!!
Now you know what to look for if you ever come across egg binding again so you will have more fortunate results. You can also take measures to prevent it from happening again. Are you providing a calcium supplement? Are the birds under a lot of stress? All these things can lead to egg binding. Do some research and see if your doing anything wrong that you could fix so it doesn't happen again!
