Holy Moly.......... duck eggs stink to high heaven to begin with and then to have one explode is bad all around. Get a heating pad set on low, pull them wipe them off real quick lay em on the pad covered, then try your best to clean the bator real well cause if you don't do a good job it will stink forever. just use some common sense and do it quickly, then re set them and hope for the best.

Here's hoping. Thanks for the quick response. I cleaned it out the best I could and got them put back in. It does stink like crazy. We were looking around thinking the dog had gone on the floor somewhere. Hopefully it won't linger too long.

My husband did great with hatching his chicks, but my ducks aren't faring so well. All the Pekings were duds, and out of 12 cayuga eggs I have five. Thankfully after we threw the Peking eggs out my husband felt bad for me and brought a few babies home from TSC for me. I'm praying for at least two to make it, I won't hold my breath though.

I've heard of this happening. I wish someone would post a picture. It seems like a fable, until I guess it happens. I would argue that there is still hope, because bacteria is a natural occurrence in almost every environment. Maybe this egg had a slight crack that was penetrable.
