My broody chicken hatched 4 eggs and left the nest leaving one almost ready egg. I would lay it under her but she rejected it. I thought it was dead because she hadnt laid on it in a couple of days but since it was hot i guess it was incubating. I wanted to do an eggtopsy to see what had happened so When i opened the airsac and made a small hole on the white cap blood started coming out.but my sister kept removing the cap until his head and neck were exposed. Now the poor thing is still alive is there a way to save it? I dont have an incubator. It spent the night and survived. Is there a way to keep it alive? It should be the in the last days before hatching...maybe 14_19 not sure. This egg was probably added by a different chicken. Do you think it will be able to hatch? It moves and opens his mouth. It has been 16 hours since this happened and the pic was taken. I have also put his head back into his natural position.

Chances are not good. If you ever open a hole in a membrane, blood = STOP. (I know it's too late this time, but for future reference.)

I don't see a picture. Is most of the chick still in the shell? It needs to be kept warm and humid so it can absorb the yolk sac, but it may have lost too much blood.
