Help! Endless Rain = Stench Beyond Belief

We've had buckets of rain here, too, and I can tell you a neighbor across the street has a stinky yard, too- no flies though *because she has no chickens!*

The horrific, acrid, abominable smell in my run is because I haven't the grass and root systems necessary to bring in oxygen, and so the smell is bacterial- anaerobic smelling! The neighbor has an area that hasn't any grass because it's where she used to have her brush pile- for years. No grass + tons of water = stinky horrible atrocious stench.

I'm personally sick of it, but recognizing it's not my birds. It's the run area that stinks, but they haven't been in there in months- rather free ranging the yard.

*Sigh* I want an easy solution!!

Wow, I'd roof if possible.
Something temporary that does work though- product for horses called Stable Boy.

I use in my coop and run regularly. It WILL neutralize the odors. In an unused run I'd use a whole bag and rake it in. In a used run, I'd put it on the ground and cover with a deep layer of clean sand or clean pine shavings, then rake out the shavings later on when it's dry. Safe for horses, dogs, birds, cats (good in cat litter too).

Some thoughts-

Can you put a tarp over the top of the run? That might work.

If only it would rain here - where we are, we haven't had rain for weeks!

Good luck with your run!
