Help feeding small call duckling!

She is eating the ground up flock raiser if we wet our finger and hold it for her. Then drinks out of her little cup if we hold it for her. Being an only duck she has really bonded to us. She is living in a small glass aquarium with a heat lamp and heating pad. She peeps and peeps if we leave her line of sight. she is a choclolate call so we are caller her/him cocoa puff! I almost stopped at TSC and bought a baby chick to keep her company but wasn't sure how that would work out. They don't carry ducklings here in the DFW area that I have found.

A baby chick would be fine. I have a 2 week old baby button quail in with my just hatched calls. I took the ducks out to take pictures and he peeped his little head off till I put the duckies back in!

Your coco puff is so cute!

If my calls hatch out really weak ,or if I have to help them hatch I will hard boil and egg blend the white with water, electrolytes, and a pinch of sugar. That mixture has saved a lot of ducklings for me!

that is a nice looking chocolate duckling.....what bloodline do you have?
Our ducklings are always able to eat the started just fine, maybe he needs another day or 2 if justo ur of the hatcher.......try pecking at the feed with your fingers to get him to eat. You could also try some boiled eggs.

toni we posted at the same time.

I emailed the fellow I got the eggs from and asked about bloodlines but have not heard back. She is eating on her own the ground up flock raiser.
