So........where i work in Tampa, FL a duck decided to make her nest in our parking lot.......not actually on the pavement, but right maybe 15 feet from the place where people park. The nest is up against some stairs behind her is one of our two buildings.....on one side of her is a staircase and on the other is a pretty large downspout from the top of the building. Unfortunately none of the eggs made it through OK and it's been around a week and a half since the last egg cracked and she is still there. We are worried that there's nothing but what we give her to eat at that spot and are thinking of physically moving her since she doesn't seem to moving on her own. We are just trying to help her, but not sure if we can move her.......and if we can then can we put her in a place that has other ducks and they will accept her or will they make her life miserable because they don't know her. There is a smaller lake a few block from where we work and i know that really early in the morning when i go walking there are ducks over there.......just trying to figure out how to snap her out of this and get her to a normal life again. Could swear i read that normally a mom will move on a few days after the eggs have hatched so it sounds like this isn't normal. I've never grabbed a duck in my life but i'd be willing to give it a shot to help break her out of this funk she is in. We did try to put something over the spot where she made her nest yesterday to see if that would get her to start moving again, but it appears she just plopped down right next to the old spot and is making herself comfortable. I need some advice........don't want this ducky to starve herself..........either way she's not getting a normal duck diet for sure from us. What do you guys think??? Need advice ASAP. Thanks in advance for your help with this.

hmmmm A Wild Broody, @Ravynscroft this is way out of my league, I'm suspecting that when she leaves the nest that she's feeding and the nest is clearly in a bad spot. I'm surprised she hasn't laid more eggs to set. Please educate us both.

Once in broody mode, may be quite a while before she starts laying eggs again...

Yes, she is most likely taking breaks and foraging her food when others don't see her... if you can't block the area off so she can't return, and if she is in no harm there otherwise, just leave her and eventually she will give it up and leave...
