So I have 6 chickens and not long ago their coop got destroyed and one of my pullets was killed by a husky.

Ihave about $400 to spend

I need a decent sized coop for 6 pullets that's decently sturdy. It's hard to find I've been trying.

I don't think there is such a thing. Unless you can find something used or a (likely used) shed that you convert. You may want to check craigslist or the like.

Otherwise, a hoop coop may be the most affordable that can be put together reasonably quickly at usually less cost.

Have you looked at these:

You might look at dog kennels (the big wire-mesh ones), with a tarp to keep out the weather. You would also need a roost and nests ("roosts" might be old chairs or a sawhorse, nests might just be boxes sitting on the ground.) This would work temporarily in most climates, and permanently in some climates.

A dog kennel will NOT be completely secure against all predators. Something like a raccoon will have no trouble getting in, unless you wrap the kennel with hardware cloth, and do something to prevent digging.

But a dog kennel usually WILL keep out dogs, and a dog is the predator you're already having trouble with.

You should be able to build an “A” frame coop and run, That would be large enough for your flock. Within your set budget. That is more sturdy and secure, than any prefab coop. A 4 ft. X 10 ft. coop and run will provide 40 sq. ft. of total space. Which is not the ideal amount of space for 6 chickens. It beats them being outside and having no protection. At least until you can afford something larger. There are plenty of video tutorials on how to cut and install common rafters. It can be built in no more than a weekend. With basic hand tools.

I have to echo everything that's already been said. I've had four coops, one of them a predfab my Darling husband bought for Christmas. Bless him but its a piece of crap. That's after he painted and reinforced it. I use it as a separation coop and for chicks. He also built a run to attach to it or it would be on the side of the road with a free sign on it. You can find a decent homemade coop used for $400 but you will likely have to make some modifications.
