Hi everyone,

I hatched these chicks from a bunch of eggs given to me by a friend for my broody chicken. We have given the black chick to a friend on a farm (we assumed he?? was a rooster) and the little white chick Lucky was attacked by a rat and died. We assumed that Lucky ( the white chick) was a hen, and the other three are roosters.

We still have the grey/black and gold/white chicks and want to know if they are roosters - because we are not allowed to keep roosters where we live.

They were born on November 22nd and they are not crowing - they still cheep like chicks? Would they crow if they are roosters? And if not, when do they start? They fight and head butt each other like I assume a rooster would do, but I have seen my hens fighting as well.

Our friend who gave us the eggs thinks that the mothers were her Isa Browns and does not know what breed their rooster is.

Here is a picture of the rooster... I'd love to know what breed people think the chicks are? And what sex they think the chicks are?

Lol, I had very remote hopes that they may be abnomally large hens! Sigh!! I can't keep them then!

Why aren't they crowing yet? When will that start??

And does any one know the breed? It would make them easier to sell/give away if I know what they are?!?

Anyone in Sydney or NSW, Australia who would like a hand raised rooster?

I don't particularly want them to end up in the pot!

The look like barred rock crosses and usually won't begin to crow until they are about 22 weeks old.

Thank you! That really helps!

I know nothing about chicken breeds and although my friend has many chickens she had no idea what the roosters were!

You call tell which ones the daddy, he pulled out all the other roo's tail feathers!!!
