Thank you all in advance for your help. And sorry if these are silly questions.

Some background- I'm a new chicken owner who was recently given 5 Silkies from some friends. One of my hens became broody and ended up sitting on two eggs. One egg went bad and I already tossed it. The second is currently on day 12 and appears to be developing well- albeit a bit tight in there already. When I was candling this egg at day 8 there appeared to be two black spots moving around in the egg. From what I understand twins can be exceptionally difficult to hatch- if they even make it that far. My children are very excited about this one egg hatching and I'd like to be able to prepare them if it's not likely to go well. This is quite the learning curve for me so I appreciate any information you all can offer. Thank you so much!

(For some reason my phone isn't letting me imbed the photos or video. I'll try to get them posted soon!)

Double yolk eggs generally are not successful at hatching, but is there a possibility that the two 'black spots' that you observed were the two eyes of the chick?

These are a couple of screen shots of the video I took. They are totally separate and seem to move independently from one another. Does that help? I will try to get the video set up up so I can upload a link to it.

It does look like 2- I saw a video of twins hatching and the lady helped. She kept taking off the outer shell until all was absorbed and they could get out. You will most likely have to help. There are videos on you tube of assisting with twins. Good luck that would be exciting!

I don't see any evidence of it being twins.  I think what you're seeing is the head and the body, as the chick is moving back and forth.  Days 10 - 14, the chicks are particularly active.

Thank you for your response. It's too crowded and dark for me to see much right now. All I can tell is that there is movement but I can't differentiate anything at this point. I guess that will come with practice.
