If I hear chirping but there is no hole from the inside to the outside does this mean that they have pipped internally and now need a hole to the outside? I have one egg that has a very small crack I'm it. It doesn't go all the way into the egg yet. Not sure if I need to be assisting or not. Any recommendations or advice is appreciated.

that is normal if your chick has internally pipped. unless they are very late to hatch you need do nothing. leave the incubator shut as they need humidity to successfully hatch.

i think the general feeling is not to consider assisting until there has been no progress after internal pip for 24 hours.
patience!!!

hope it goes well

Thanks so much. I guess I was reading another thread and I realized now that there chickens were late hatchers. Ours are right on time as its been 21 days today.

From when they first make a crack in their shell, how many hours does it take to completely hatch?

Oh, and the crack is really more like a crack, not a hole where the beak can stick out.
