I'm just through caring for a chicken mauled by a dog.
You need to get antibiotic, definitely. I used it for 7 days, at full dose. I recommend squirting the dose into her mouth, because then you'll be sure she gets the dose.
Puncture wounds can cause deep infection, so checking for that and thoroughly rinsing is important. A large syringe with saline is best to let tissue heal.
I irrigated my chicken's wounds twice a day for a week. I used a neti pot (off
Amazon) - she did not have deep wounds, and it worked well.
Neosporin is great for dressing the wounds and keeping the surface moist. After a week I used intrasite gel and she has healed beautifully.
Pain relief made a real difference to her recovery too. Meloxicam (dog arthritis medicine) works well and is safe. 1mg/kg, once a day.
Keeping the nursing area clean is important, as is an even warm, not hot temperature.
Good luck! They're hardy creatures and heal well.
