Help! Found Bird! What is it?

Wow! I wouldn't know what to do with a turkey.

I looked up turkey poults on the web and it looks like a Narragansett turkey poult. Is that a breed?

It sure is cute.

Waiting for updates!

Definately a turkey. You can give it regular medicated chick starter, no need to make it mushy. If it was born within the last day or two, it may not be ready to eat yet. I would scatter some crumbles on the bottom of cage and offer water. You may have to teach it to drink from the waterer. Just be careful the waterer is not too deep, Ive heard that turkeys arent the smartest and can drown themselves. Good luck with it.

Turk: Needs higher protein level.

Either pick up some Gamebird Starter or supplement diet with meal worms.

Have fun!

GOOOD Morning everyone! The most comments are "Are you going to keep it?" Well ya! If I did get rid of it, 1st of all my kids (5) would have my head. 2nd where would I go with it? 3rd I myself would always and forever wonder what in creation it was. So Yes we are curoius as to what the snickerdoodles it is.

Is is doing good this morning! When going to it this morning I was preparing myself for the worst, but there it was alive.

write2caroline, I'm going with Angels, there is no way the thing walked this far. Just to give an idea, I have 2 dogs and no other person, animal..... could have gotton on the property with out being noticed by those 2. There is alot of comosion (SP?) here at the time there was 2 extra kids outside that makes 9 people. This thing (looks to of been born early Mon., MAYBE Sun.) traveled 150' from the field across the yard, across the widest part of the driveway and into the inside corner of our house, where when peeping my son who was IN the house but next to a window heard it the same time our 2 cats heard it. He went out and got it. So neither the dogs or the cats knew about this thing AND no visual wounds. See angels.

threehorses "need help with it's care" How? If anyone wants to send some turkey food ( if that is what it is) we'll use it, otherwise It's going to have to eat our chick food (unmedicated). I'm not buying a 50lb bag of food for Doofis here. MAYBE we'll buy some meal worms only because our chicks will eat them too.

It's not Ducky! I could of only hoped so.

Chicken lady, I didn't think about it maybe being to young to want to eat. It is starting to eat today but off of my finger (OUCH) it has a sharper beak then my chicks. It is drinking also.

We have it in the light with our chicks but NOT IN with our chicks. I'm to scared to put them together, for fear of disease.

I also looked up turkey and pheasant chicks, you got me they ALL look the same to me.

Hard to tell from your shot. Looked like a turk at first glance, but San's mention of the `flat' `ducky' beak makes me guess pheasant as well.

Regardless, higher protein and see what develops...

WOW. I know cats are known to bring baby live animals home to their owner as a gift. I had a cat that would do that, Sometimes it would be dead.

I'd be excited too. to find a chick and to see what it grew up to be.

Please keep us informed, I would love to know the outcome.

Oh, since it hasn't been mentioned, yet: Keep this little sucker quarantined from your chooks for at least two weeks (month is better). You can't be too careful.
