Help - Found one of my hens dead this morning :(

I'm going to post here, don't mean to hijack your thread but I just came to the computer to put this up hoping for some answers. I have had five birds die over the last month or so, and each seemed fine one day, and dead the next. After the second one, I of course was watching all the birds very closely (like a hawk) and did notice that in each of the last three in the day or so before death they seemed to be distancing themselves from the other birds, as you say, standing/laying in a corner with their shoulders hunched up. The last two actually died in my lap, as I took them up to see what might be wrong. They went the same way, sort of a rattling breathing sound, a bit of spasm with neck arching and then gone. I am completely baffled. I am looking for runny eyes or nose, or discharge, but nothing. And, it's been one at a time, I'm thinking if it's a disease of some kind, wouldn't it be more of them all together? They eat the same thing, it was a cockeral this morning, so not an egg thing, I'm starting to panic. All different breeds of birds, it's driving me crazy. As my husband says, it kinda takes the fun out of it. Any ideas of what it might be, or what I can do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

CindyG- I'd be sending the next one in for necropsy. It sounds like you may have something more sinister going on than just birds randomly dying. With that number of deaths there has to be something else happening.

Sorry for your losses.
