Hi! I was sorting on my couch and heard frantic chirpin coming from my closet! One of the chicks on the incubator hatched about a week early and im not ready! Im sitting on the floor with it in my hand on a heating pad with a heater blowing on it until my husband gets home to go grab the stuff. I panicked and grabbed it out of the incubator because it still had the turner on. This is our first ever hatching. Please help!

I would probably turn the egg turner off. Unless you are certain this was just one weird occurrence with this chick. I don’t think there is really much need to worry. Just keep it warm and get a brooder set up as soon as possible! If you turn the egg turner off, maybe put it back in the incubator, to make sure it doesn’t get too hot or cold.

What day are you on? Where these eggs being incubated by a broody before they were set in the incubator? Have you handled the rest of your eggs to see how far along they are?

If you haven't already, get your brooder setup. The chick can go a few days without eating or drinking because it will be full from the yolk. It will be fine as a lone chick for a few days.

Thanks! Got a temp one set up for now.
If i turn off the turner, do i need to manually turn the eggs? Theres still 6 days left

No. Turning is important early in the hatch but by 14 days turning is no longer required. The body parts have already formed in the right places and a membrane has formed around the embryo to stop it from directly touching the inside of the eggshell and getting stuck.

Maybe you could candle them to see about how much longer they have left. That’s weird that one hatched so early. Where did you get the eggs?

The eggs were from our chickens so theyre all silkie crosses with god
knows what.
Were up to 3 hatched and 4 more trying! The third one though looks like it has a slightly prolapsed vent. I read about hemorrhoid cream to help? Ill get a pic shortly

That's a lot of supposed early hatches. Exactly what day are you on? Was there a chance the eggs were being incubated before you set them?

Pictures? It could be a prolapse or an unabsorbed yolk sac. If it's the yolk sac, put it in a little container lined with paper towels within the incubator to keep the sac from being broken. It will eventually finish absorbing the yolk or it will dry up and fall off.

Supposed to be day 15 lol thats why nothing was ready
I guess theres always a chance but were pretty good about grabbing them at least daily
Heres a pic
