Help getting hens to accept out rooster in the coop at night

Did you get your rooster at the same time you got your hens?
How old is your rooster and how old are your hens?
What actually happens at roost time? Do the hens go in first and the rooster waits outside, or at the pop door entrance?
Does your rooster mate with any of the hens?
All important questions. The answers to these could really help. Without this information I can only guess at what might possibly be going on, but the bottom line is that if no one is getting hurt, no one is getting hurt.

Bedtime can be disruptive in my flock. Some flocks are better about that than others. They all want to sleep in the prime sleeping spots but the ones higher in the pecking order get those. There can be squawking, bumping, and shoving as they sort it out. Occasionally one is knocked off of the roost. But no one gets hurt and they eventually sort it out. Life is good.

Even with further information my suggestion is most likely to be the same as some of the others. Give them a chance to sort it out. The first time you try leaving him in overnight, be out there at first light when they wake up and see how it is going.

I got him first and his original 3 hens have all passed away. The new hens are almost a year old. The rooster is around 3 yrs. They all free range together during the day and he mates with all of them. At night sometimes he goes straight to his bachelor pad and sometimes he goes into the hens coop but I shoo him out since the hens don't seem to like it. The hens just cluck around and don't settle in.

Thank you for those answers. That eliminates some possible issues.

Chickens often do not like change. If he spends the night it will likely change where they sleep, at least a bit. But they are also adaptable. They should soon sort it out. Just give it a try and trust your chickens to be chickens. But check early the next morning. Trust but verify.

My hens don't like our rooster in the coop with them at night. When he tries to go in with them at night they tend to freak out. They all free range during the day and get along fine. Right now he goes into a separate coop at night. He's not aggressive but is also not cuddly and I've never been able to pick him up. I would like to use the coop he is in for some new chicks but how do I get him into the big coop at night without a disaster? Please be kind, first time chicken mom.
i DONT KNOW ABOUT ROOSTERS, BUT I HAVE FOUND IF I INTRODUCE A NEW CHICKEN REALLLY LATE AT NIGHT. JUST PUT HER ON A PERCH. SHE IS USUALLY ACCEPTED MUCH MORE EASILY. I THINK CHICKENS ARE IN A COMA WHEN THEY SLEEP AND THEY PROBABLY THINK THEY HAVE DREAMED UP THE NEW GIRL...HA HA
