So I am going tomorrow to get my first silkie and I am thrilled to death!!! The only
Is that the breeder is 45 minutes away and I don't know how to keep it warm on the ride home! Help! I do have other chicks at home that I will put it with but don't know about the ride

Wrap the box in a towel and turn up the car's heat. Make sure you wear a T-shirt. It will be fine.

Do you have any feed corn around? I used to make neck-warmers by filling up a tube sock with whole feed corn (or I would actually sew a 5 inch wide rectangle) . And then I would microwave it for about 4 minutes and use it to relax the muscles in my neck. These things stayed warm FOREVER! You could throw some of those together easily and quickly if you have the corn on-hand. Put a couple of those around one corner of a box (so that if it's TOO warm, she can get away from the heat) and that'll be more than enough warmth for 45 minute ride home! I've never tried it, but I'm thinking perhaps any dried bean would work too.

Good luck and congratulations on your new baby!
