Help getting ready for cold front

Interesting. OK, thanks.
Has to be 100% calcium chloride tho.
...and I wonder how quickly the heat dissipates when being transferred into the aquarium.
I can see it helping in a tropical aquarium scenario, very temporarily.
Would be pretty hard to apply to a chicken waterer in freezing temps.
This article gives a brief description of calcium chloride is and what its used for. https://www.jeremyswenson.com/what-is-calcium-chloride-used-for/

I've been putting my 1.5 month and 2+ month outside in the cool Texas mid morning (60-65 F degrees) ... then bringing them into my dining room for the evening.

They are supposedly 2 mos. (Buff Orpington) and a 6 wk old Blue Wyandotte.

Am I doing wrong?

They are fully feathered now, is that correct? If so, they will be fine staying outside 24/7.
So sorry for the late reply, Allisfairinloveandbug, but things got busy here with a delayed Christmas for a special family unit .... and then the "Blue Northern" arrived ... only down to the mid-30's ... not freezing, but wicked winds from the north that blew down limbs and trees and nasty cold rain flying sideways with it.

That said, I wimped out and brought them in at night but put them in my ~4'x6' dog playpen with paper on the bottom and a tarp on top. (Buffy (the Buff Orpington) and Ella (the Blue(s) Wyandotte) had already very dramatically demonstrated their flying abilities the first day home! Apparently Buffy is interested in upright pianos, maybe Ella can sing!

Okay, so I'll cut to the fun part, or at least I hope it is still fun in the morning! I've been putting the toddlers outside in the dog playpen with a tarp cover, right up against the chain link fence with the big girls in the other fenced section of my back yard during the recent good weather in the 60's+ and bringing them back in at night. They've had a chance to see each other and peck and squawk and posture, etc. Today it got up to the low 70's, so I took both of the little girls out with me at sunrise and let them run loose in the back fenced section with me while I worked on cleaning up my gardens and trimming freeze damaged plants, etc. Big girls on one side of the fence, looking and squawking, little girls doing the same. Fast forward past noon ... I left them out there to make tea and run some errands. Eureka! When I went back out the toddlers had scratched enough at the bottom of the chain link to get into the side paddock with the big girls and I found them inside the coop enclosure scarfing up the food, and my Aussie Cattle Dog in there with them .... either guarding them or looking for a treat himself! (I know, I'm going to have to change all of the girls to "flock feed" to keep the toddlers from eating too much "layer feed" with too much calcium, right?)

Anyway, I found it too funny that nature laughed in my face and the girls found their own way into the flock. I went outside then and sat for over an hour in my Coleman chair with a glass of wine and observed their behavior ... I threw some scratch to a couple of different areas a few times to prompt the "pecking order" behavior while I was there to intercede if it got really nasty, otherwise I left them alone and smiled and enjoyed the lessons they were teaching each other ... and teaching me.

I hope all is well in the morning, because they're all in there together now! (I did add a big weathered driftwood log to the extra run to provide more "perch" area for now until I can build more of those.)

Anyway ... thank you soooo much for your kind response and help, and the same from so many others on this great site! I hope all is well in the morning, but I think it will be okay or I'll make whatever adjustments may be needed.

Y'all are GREAT FOLKS! Thank you soooooo much!
