Help getting started?

I'm about to order day-old chicks. What supplies will I need? I have finished the hen house, but that's all. Also, should I order the vaccinated chicks? Any points in the right direction is much appreciated!

Thank you so much! I have one more question: I really want Brahma chickens, and am wondering if they will need a ramp to get to the 30 inch high roost.

Until they are a little older, yes.

Do you think when they're fully grown they can fly up there without a ramp?

Yes, and when they are a couple months old they can probably get up there. Mine flew out of a box taller then 30" when they were a couple months old.

Wow! Were they standard size Brahma's? I keep hearing that they have trouble flying onto a roost because they're so big, and hope that's not always the case, as it will be crowded in the coop with a ramp.

No they were Orpingtons, Wyandottes, and Australorps.
