Help getting started?

I'm going to order my chicks for hatching/arrival in may/June due to my time constraints right now. That's getting into the hot weather out here in Texas. Anyone have any recommendations for chick safety in this heat?

Make sure they always have cool water and shade if they are outside. If it gets really hot and they are panting you can put a fan outside.

I have always feed them non medicated chick starter. If i cant find non medicated then i will use game bird chick starter. It has the same stuff but more protein and a little less vitamins. i Just add a vitamin supplement to their water. You can get it at walmart in the bird food selection, its really cheap. Actually i add this to all my chicks water and to my adult flocks water during the winter.
