about 16 hours ago my chicks piped. 2 are out. the third is alive but not trying to hatch. the other chicks pecked the entire top half of the egg off but not the membrane and there is a small amount of blood coming from the egg membrane! SOS!

Most people will not recommend assisting in a hatch for the simple reason that if they can't get out of the egg on their own they are rarely strong enough to live. There are always exceptions to every rule, but I'v found it best to let nature take it's course with hatching...Sorry

Chicks can take up to 48 hours to hatch, and they do stop and rest alot.

Last time I 'helped' a chick out (Due to shrink wrapped), I accidently killed it.

It's extremely easy to injure or kill the baby while trying to do the opposite.

The chick could be deformed, and thus cannot

hatch. If you help it out, you're likely to be stuck with the decision of culling the

baby. I only recommend helping when it's stuck, or cannot get out because of
somthing we caused. (Shrink wrapped, etc)

Poor baby.
I would be torned to want to help. If it looses too much blood it can die.
Are any other eggs pipped and waiting to hatch?

Sounds like the 3rd chick probably did not finish absorbing the yoke and blood from the membrane. The rowdy ones probably need to be pulled and placed in the bator if they are dry already.
When you pull them put a warm damp paper towel over the eggs remaining, especially the exposed egg. If the exposed egg is still bleeding you can take it out and gently put just slight pressure to stop the bleeding. Wrapp a warm wet papertowel but becareful not to block the chicks airhole. Make sure to allow wiggle room too so the chick can work itself free.

Keep an eye on it and be ready to further assist it. At 24 hrs I would gently help it out if it is still in the egg. Work slowly and should any bleeding accure stop rewrap as that is a sign the chick may not be ready.
