Help - hatching goslings for the first time.....

Perfect sized container. I'd put a small hand cloth under baby. Baby will be out very soon! Right now you want to make sure umbilical cord does not break too early and cause bleeding. Then take a pic so I can see how much yolk sac left... but looking good!!

He may be stuck and cannot get his beak positioned to break through the shell better, but since he is still working away, you have time to make sure baby #1 is ok before assisting baby #2.

just go and do it now, be right back. does the cloth need to be damp?

Heres the best shot I can get its really reduced in size now seems to have gone down very fast!

Can you see the foot in their, then the yellowy substance is very stringy now it does look very much like my little ones cords when they got clamped, if you know what i mean.

Baby #1 looks great. Yes, that is the cord I am concerned about getting pulled off belly if shell breaks away. Give her another 30 minutes then recheck. Candle 2nd egg and then peel a very small hole above crack line in the air cell to see if beak is clear of membrane.

Just had a look at #2 it looks a but like a bat inside, the beak is on the crack line and looks to be moving freely and either side were shaddows of some part of the baby, do we take a chance and see whats happening in the morning, if alls still the same make a hole then?

Baby #1, looks ok, I can't believe how big its feet are

Really need to go to bed now, will update tomorrow I so hope they make it through

Thanks so so so much for all your help, Hatty

Morning,

Well not too sure how we are doing!! Baby 1 managed to get itself out of the shell hald in / out the container but lots of stringy still coming from its belly with a lump of what must be the umbilical??

Here are 2 pictures I know your probably in the land of nod (Iain) but if anyone else can help now I would appreciate it, don't know what to do shes moving round the incubator with this stuff dragging, I'm worried that she'll pull it out and die.

Shes not in this container now as she keeps jumping out so to speak!!

Thanks, Hatty
