Hi, i have a caged flock of 8, of 2 month old chicks..they all seem to have swollen balls on the side of their necks..i did some research and seems to be impacted crops...am i right???? A couple chicks are very compacted, while some have alightly smaller accumulated crops....what do i do.....i read an article that says to take away food, and give a stool softner, dulcolax, soap them in epson salt and message their crop to see if any comes out through their mouth.......why would this happen....they get fed and water daily..
i have an older flock that is free range and they eat a[IMG] 3 grain scratch as a treat daily, and their fine! , and these little guys get a 20%scratch, 80%chicks starter mix....looks like the scratch is what is compacted. I can see the little pcs of corn through their skin[IMG]....help!!!

Do the chicks have feed available ad lib, or are you feeding and then removing feed? It just looks as if they are eating as much as they can to fulfill their hunger.
