Hello, I have a two year old male pekin duck(who was perfectly healthy) that is having trouble walking. About 6 months ago one of our female pekins hurt her leg. We tried to put her outside in the pond as much as we could, but she would sit in their pen most of the time. While she sat inside so did our 2 year old male duck. I also tried taking him out of the pen everyday, and he would come out but towards the end he just sat in there all day with her. Then about a month ago the female sadly passed away. Due to him sitting with her for all that time he hasn’t been able to walk the best. When he tries to walk he puts his wings out to balance himself, and he has been limping with his tail pointing down. He does a few steps but just plops right on the ground. I gave him amoxicillin three days in a row, and I mix diatomaceous earth in his food. I don’t know if the cold weather has anything to do with it. I bring him out with the others in the sun by a tree close to the pond, he swims fine. If anyone has any advice to help him get walking again please get back to me as soon as possible, thank you.

I wonder if your pekins are getting enough niacin. I would use liquid B complex while your pekin is not walking, and add brewer's yeast to all your pekin's diet to prevent niacin deficiency. Tractor Supplies carries Durvet Liquid B complex. Give it orally,1 ml over a tasty treat once a day and see if there is an improvement
Thank you so much!!! I will give this a try.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry about all that. We have a pekin duck and a few months ago she couldn’t walk too well, and it ended up being a niacin deficiency. I don’t think this sounds like a niacin deficiency, but I thought I would mention it anyways, just in case.

We only have a Murdoch's where I live, and I haven't been able to find the durvet vitamin b complex there. Should I just order it? My 7-8 year old pekin Angel has a hard time walking too. I recently put my flock on the country companion all flock and that seems to give her more strength but it is still not enough to make her walk around through out the day.
