I have a hen that for the last few days have been jus layin under my coop and we thought she was broody so we looked and no eggs and than i figured maybe she could still be broody so we let her be, well today i came out to feed morning snack and she was sittin ny her water bucket so i tried to get her to walk around and she looses her balance and stumbles and stops and closes her eys, and she has runny poo and than when i picked her up she vomited all over me and she was burning up hot. I brung her in the house put in my bathroom where it is cool, gave her feed and cool water and she is still the same. could anyone help to as why she has started todo this??????PLEASE HELP SHE IS ONLY 2 1/2 years old give or take a few weeks. will post pic if need to.....

OH OH one more thing when i felt on her bum she felt like she had a egg but not sure. and she has not ate or drank much...

She could be egg bound, or she could have a crop problem (sour crop, impacted crop.) Sometimes putting them in the bathtub in some tepid water will help them pass the egg is they are egg bound. Sometimes the egg can break inside and cause peritonitis.

It does sound like she is egg bound. Unfortunately it happens a lot with production breeds after 2 years old.... tepid water is about all you can do. Even if it does pass it will more than likely happen again... sorry but might be time to start thinkin about her quality of life...

I had an eggbound girl. I used olive oil, on her vent area, warm bath, massage her abdomen. I never did feel an egg. But she was so distressed I took her to the vet. He used KY jelly and sterile glove and had to go quite aways up into her vent like 4 inches and he got the egg out.

Egg bound she most possibly is. The suggestion to 'go in' might be her immediate solution. To help her 'move' them better keep her well 'lubbed' and try giving her lettuce know to maek the loose but they do freely eat it.

Oh, and I forgot. I took a calcium pill and a little water and put it in the blender. Took a syringe and dropped small amt's onto her beak so she would take it in. I read about the calcium for egg bound here on this site.

i tried everything yall advised except the clacium and water and she is still so sick. she has a fever i know it she is burning up, her skin al most hot enough to burn u. and she is poopin on her self. could she have a cold or something.? i jus dont know what to do for her.....i think it is time to cull her,,i dont want her to suffer any longer....she has been like this almost a week now. only food and water she has had is what i am manually giving her. so upset and worried,,i feel so help less.
