Okay so I have three, 4 week and 3 day old "hopefully" hens that are all three different breeds. They have been growing well and are little lovebirds but tonight about 10 minutes ago I heard a "ruckus" coming from the brooder room. I walked in and looked in and only saw 2 chickens.... upon further investigation, they were all 3 in there but my barred rock was literally sitting on my australorp. To the point that she was flat and I could not see her unless I got close. Is this her establishing pecking order? Or just plain being a bully? I am super nervous because I have never had any problems until now and last night was their first night without their heat lamp or a nightlight.... temp is a constant 74 with no complaints and im trying to get them ready to go outside. I am new to chickens and dont want to lose one or have one harm the other. Please help as I am at a loss for what to do

If you have a pen, you can let them out now. Mine were outside and enjoying the grass and bugs by this age. Also will be able to enjoy the outside and less aggression. If you have a pen or fencing I saw put them out on the lawn lol. Even a bottomless floored cage works.

I'm not sure what you have, three birds total? Of different ages? Or do you mean your birds are 4 week (plus three days) old all the same age?

At any rate, in general, there will be 'a ruckus' as they develop a pecking order. It can be nasty to listen to but it's normal. Make sure there's no blood (none!) and try to get them more room as soon as you can.

Good luck!
