HELP HEN ATTACKED BY A FOX, WHAT DO I DO NEXT??? pictures

She seems to be doing okay. I tried to give her some antibiotics but she really didn't like it. I left the water in there for 24 hours with the meds in it but I don't think she drank much of it. She's not eating much so I gave her some yogurt with some chick starter and she at most of that. She is pooping alot and it looks normal so I guess she is getting enough to eat and drink. Last night she was up walking around in her little cage so that seems like a good sign. I try to kinda leave her be so she can rest and heal. I've been spraying it with iodine and putting 3x antibiotic ointment on it daily. I still can't get all the feathers unstuck. She really needs a bath she has mud and her foot feathers. But like I said she is not a tame bird yet we only had her for a week before this happened so I don't want to cause her anymore stress by a bath just yet. I think she might just make it. She does seem lonely. But Her chicken friend didn't make it threw the attack. I wonder if in a few days I should give her a friend to keep her company? I'm afraid that if I put a chicken in that is her age it might hurt her so maybe if I put one in a little younger???? But I don't want her being mean to the new chicken either, What do you all suggest?

PLEASE......Don't put iodine or Betadine on the wound anymore. Betadine is great for the initial cleaning out of the wound but after that it kills new skin cells that are trying to heal it. Rinse the area everyday and pat dry. Use a mild hand soap if you like. Pat dry with soft towel and apply neosporin. If she is not eating giver her a little scrambled egg or a grape or two to get her to eat. She'll need a lot of sleep and quiet.

I recently had a coon attack. One hen had a large area of skin ripped off her back. I've been using triple antibiotic ointment on it and keeping it clean. She is in a crate in the house, where its cleaner (although not by much.....haha)..
No....don't put another bird in with her. They will no doubt peck at the wound. Chickens tend to kill injured birds. I have a radio going near my chicken. I don't know if it helps or not.
I noticed that it was either the emotional trauma of the attack, or the antibiotics, but my chicken's appetite was horrible for awhile. It has gotten better now that it is 10 days after the attack, plus I stopped her antibiotics a couple days ago.
I have to keep changing what I give her to eat, because one day she might love it, and hate it the next.
I always have water and purina layena in the crate, but I also give her occasional Purina cat chow. She likes that and its high in protein. I also give her watermelon, yogurt with extra probiotics in it, scrambled eggs, water with cherry juice in it, strawberries, etc. If she's not drinking, try giving her fruit that is juicy.
Good luck!

You're doing fine. It is correct that Betadine and peroxide both kill new cells. Either is fine for initial cleaning but should be avoided after that unless there is still dirt to get out.

If there are still feathers on the wound, you do need to get them off. I would put her in a warm bath, as you considered. The soak in the warm water is the main thing but you could put just a little mild liquid soap or even a few drops of Betadine in the water. Soak her and run the water over the wound til you get the feathers loose. A squirt bottle would be helpful.

Then triple antibiotic and isolation and nutritional support, as you have been doing, are all she should need.Trim any feathers that can brush against the wound.

She's made it this far and is moving around, so she should be fine.

If you give her chick starter, make sure it is NOT MEDICATED. will make her sick. Yogurt and soft scrambled egg are good easy foods.

I would not put medicine in the water, only electrolytes and fresh water otherwise you don;t know if she drank and it could deter her from fresh water.
If you need to administer medicine do so with needle-less syringe gently by beak.

Besides that sounds like you are doing great! Good luck, chickens are mind blowingly hardy!!
