Help hen crushed!

Good afternoon all,
I have been raising chickens for years. I have never had a chicken crush an egg on hatch day before! It's still alive!! I put it in an incubator, I am worried it may have trouble hatching because mean old mama smashed it.

I doubt she smashed it on purpose. Does she have a private box? baby is still alive?

She has a private box and area all to her self, she has been getting up and leaving the nest a lot over the last day, and last night she left the box and the eggs became cold. The last time a hen did that I ended up having to hatch the babies myself.

The baby is alive and chirping like crazy. I also know she didn't do it on purpose. Her name is mean old mama because she is a stinker that will fight the other ladies (the reason she has her own area).

I had this happened. It had happened because she scratched away all the straw so it got crushed. When I found it it was dead. Your chick looks ok as long as no bleeding happenes.

That's so sad. This baby is doing well, but the membrane won't stay wet, and it doesn't have that many veins.

here is a trick to find any veins: Take a clean paintbrush and get it damp. Put it on the mebrane and that should reveal any veins

Try using clean oil to moisten it. No veins is good, the baby is absorbing the veins and will hatch soon.
