Help Please ! One of my hens has been in the nest box for 24 hours. Not making any sounds, just sitting in there. This is my second summer with my backyard flock, so Im not sure whats going on.
I know somethings not right. I picked her up early this am, she pecked at me and started screeching. I tried to gently feed around near the vent it just felt very warm and kind of soft. I was afraid to probe too much. Her vent is clear. I put her in the run with the other girls, knew she must need water. she ran around a little bit, drank water, 2 pecks at food. She's back in the nest box. She layed an egg yesterday. This is abnormal behaviour for her. She's the top girl.
Any info, suggestions please and thank you.
